Description: An Admissions Counselor is responsible for assisting in the development, planning and implementation of the Southern Adventist University recruitment strategy within their assigned territories, by connecting with individual prospective students and their parents and assisting them through the enrollment process. Travel comprises about 25% of the job, which equates to about 50-60 days per year and may include weekends.
Experience: Recruit and advise prospective students at Seventh-day Adventist academies in the Southern Union, and assigned areas of the North America Division.
Represent Southern Adventist University at assigned College Fairs in the Adventist Enrollment Association’s North American Division College Fair Tour.
Recruit in assigned Southern Union conferences during the summer months including visiting Camp Meetings and Summer Camps to represent Southern Adventist University and meet with prospective students.
Utilize CRM software to manage up to 600 applicants within assigned territories.
Connect with prospective students and parents of prospective students through phone calls, emails, text messages, and in-person meetings, to assist them through the enrollment process.
Offer counseling on scholarships and financial aid to prospective students.
Represent Southern Adventist University at union and conference-wide meetings, particularly educational and ministerial, as assigned.
Support the Campus Visits Coordinator by assisting with Campus Visit events, including “Counselor of the Day” activities, and leading portions of ViewSouthern, PreviewSouthern, and other campus visit related event programming.
Represent Southern Adventist University during academy graduation services in the Southern Union and present appropriate awards and scholarships.
Assist the Director of Admissions in the general planning of the office, including registrations, committee work, policy input, and the general mission of the Admissions Department.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree is required, but a Master’s degree preferred. Ability to effectively communicate. Must have strong competence in organizational skills. Demonstrated competency with a variety of technology platforms and tools.
Special Requirements: Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a SDA church member in good and regular standing, and a desire to serve in a cooperative, spiritually redemptive, and soul-winning atmosphere.
Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending and reaching. May require moving packages up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
