Description: The School of Social Work and Sociology at Walla Walla University invites applications for the position of Dean to lead the Wilma Hepker School of Social Work and Sociology, a dynamic program serving over 40 undergraduate and 170 graduate students. This tenure-track faculty position begins July 1, 2019. The Dean reports to and coordinates with the Vice President for Academic Administration and has responsibility for strategic, programmatic, financial, and management operations that support the mission and vision of the school and its role within Walla Walla University.
Degrees offered by the School of Social Work and Sociology include a B.A. in Sociology, a Bachelors in Social Work and a Master of Social Work. The programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Duties of the Dean include:
• Lead a team of 19 faculty spread across three campuses;
• Provide program coordination for undergraduate and graduate degrees;
• Maintain CSWE standards and accreditation;
• Coordinate recruitment and maintenance of adequate staffing;
• Perform administrative duties including:
o Serve on campus governance committees;
o Periodic visits to off-site campuses;
o Conduct departmental faculty, admissions, standards and field meetings;
o Conduct and coordinate faculty/staff employment reviews;
o Assist with undergraduate and graduate curriculum changes;
o Coordinate class scheduling;
o Provide leadership for departmental and campus programs;
o Monitor student progression through her/his program;
o Participate in scholarship decisions;
o Maintain contact with alumni;
o Conduct assessments, collect assessment data, and maintain records;
• Represent Walla Walla University at annual NADD/CSWE meetings;
• Conduct Community Advisory Board meetings;

Experience: An MSW plus an earned doctorate in Social Work or a closely related field with an outstanding record of excellence in leadership and teaching. Licensure and field experience are desirable.
