Description: Metropolitan Junior Academy (MJA), located in
Nortville Township, in south-east Michigan, is approximately 25
minutes from Ann Arbor, MI. MJA is currently looking for a
teacher/Principal (teaching grades 6-8). MJA is a growing, 65-
student/4-teacher school committed to nurturing our
students in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and
educating them for a life of unselfish service. Candidates
should be passionate about SDA Education, children, learning
and growth, and enthusiastic about leading students to a
relationship with Christ. We seek someone with strong
leadership qualities who can both lead and collaborate with
faculty and staff. We currently offer grades K-10 with a vision to expand through grade 12. MJA is accredited by the National
Council of Private Schools.
MJA is blessed with a paid administrative staff, treasurer,
and a team of dedicated volunteers including maintenance
personnel, music teacher, librarian and full-time PE teacher.
MJA offers its students a number of extra-curricular and after-
school activities which include choir, hand chimes, community
service, and gymnastics. We have a very supportive single-
church constituency and our School Board ensures the school
remains financially strong and the teaching staff have the tools and latitude to succeed. The school facility is very well maintained and offers 4 classrooms, a library, full-size gym with stage and a commercial kitchen. The school and church sit on almost 14 acres with a pond and wooded walking paths. We are located in a desirable suburb of SE Michigan surrounded by vibrant, family-oriented and professional communities with thriving businesses and world-class hospitals. Experience: The teacher/principal candidates must be acommitted Seventh-day Adventists with education administration experience and a high level of professional competence. Masters level training is desired with strong math, English, and technology skills. It is essential the candidates can demonstrate effective communication skills, high standards of integrity, fairness, and an understanding for confidentiality with staff, students and parents. Candidates should be tech-savvy, learning based, proactive in improving their own instructional practices, and have knowledge on how to adapt teaching styles and methods for students with learning disabilities. The candidate should be willing to team teach, be community outreach oriented, and have a vision for expansion to include grades 11 and 12. He/she should actively participate in our constituent church and promote a lifestyle that incorporates principles advocated by the Adventist Church.
