Description: Holbrook Indian School (HIS) is seeking to hire a qualified, Christ-centered team player to be our accountant, effective immediately. The position is 12-month, full time hourly, with benefits including medical and retirement. They hourly rate ranges from $15-$18 per hour commensurate with experience. The accountant reports to the Business Manager (supervisor) and works with the Business Manager to develop reliable financial reports for the school’s budget, administrators and meetings (e.g. Principal, Board Meeting, Local Management Committee). Attends Local Management Committee as a committee member. Assists with preparation for financial audits & support during the audits. Maintains & reconcile petty cash, bank accounts, A/R & A/P and agency accounts in Adventist Accounting Software International (AASI) system. Processes A/R & A/P transactions (e.g. deposits/disbursements, tuition/rent payments, Payroll, Journal Voucher [JV] entries). Performs other duties as assigned (e.g. inventory of keys and vehicle operations). This position is open until filled.
HIS is an accredited 1-12th grade boarding school operated directly by the Pacific Union Conference. As such, faculty and staff members receive remuneration and benefits according to the policies employed by all schools in the Pacific Union. As in many other SDA boarding schools, employees live in on-campus housing. The average student population at HIS is 72 students, split evenly between 1-8th and 9-12th grades, with an additional 10-15 students at our one-teacher school in Chinle, Arizona.
Experience: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting; or in a related field (e.g. business administration, finance); OR, Combination of 4 years education & experience in accounting. Candidates must possess a service-oriented attitude, be culturally conscious and able to work with students, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds. Possess good verbal and written communication and organization skills, have attention to detail, and effective time management. Priority will be given for competent technology skills (e.g. Microsoft Windows, Excel, an accounting system). Absolute confidentiality and trust is essential. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.
