Description: San Marcos Adventist Junior Academy (SMAJA) is looking for an upper grade teacher to complete our team. Settled along the I-35 Corridor between Austin and San Antonio, San Marcos is a lovely gateway city to Texas' beautiful Hill Country. Less than a mile from our school is the booming campus of Texas State University, which has a culturally diverse student body of almost 40,000. San Marcos is served by a Seventh-day Adventist hospital and nursing home, and is part of a rapidly-growing region with ample community facilities, activities, and thriving businesses.
Our school shares a campus with our home church, the San Marcos SDA Church. The church has a supportive, full-time pastor, and dedicated congregation of servant-leaders. Our parents and local church members are strong supporters of Adventist Christian education. In 2013, SMAJA moved into a facility built for growth of up to 110 students. We have modern, roomy classrooms, a dedicated music room, a commercial kitchen, a large gymnasium with locker rooms, and an outdoor playground. We offer grades K-10, with a mission to show children Jesus, nurture their love for Him and others, teach them to think, and empower them to serve.
SMAJA is looking for a teacher who is certified for more than one subject area. Our ideal teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students can fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. We teach in a combination room setting where each teacher has two grades per classroom. The candidate we are seeking would teach specific subject areas in 7/8 & 9/10 grade classes. The applicant must be certified in at least two of the following subjects: English I, English II, 7/8 English, World Geography, World History, 7/8 History, Physical Science, Biology, 7/8 Science, 7/8 Bible, Religion I, Yearbook, and Art.
Experience: Minimum: B.S. degree and current NAD certification. Salary and benefits are based on the denominational wage scale and policy, candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
