Description: Highland Adventist School is located in the middle of miles and miles of national forest land near ski resorts outstanding rock climbing, camping, hiking, kayaking, and other outdoor recreational opportunities. The school is an innovative, K-12, well-established, innovative Adventist school program that serves the Christian school needs of the local community. The high school typically has 17-20 students enrolled.
The open teaching position is for the high school home room teacher with primary teaching responsibilities in math, history and Bible. The school is in the process of developing a strong STEM focus and a project based learning approach. The school has a string orchestra, a working greenhouse, a strong outdoor skills training program, is currently building a gymnasium, and provides many service opportunities for students. Academic excellence and career readiness activities are a big focus of the school, but spiritual mentoring and discipling of our students is our highest focus.
Experience: The successful candidate will be a positive Seventh-day Adventist Christian role model who relates well to teenagers, developing strong, appropriate relationships. He will also have good classroom management and the ability to provide challenging and interesting classes that demonstrate differentiation and content mastery.
Mastery of and the ability to teach higher level math (at least through pre-calculus) is essential. Familiarity with Project Based Learning and STEM education is a plus. BA/BS+ is necessary, with masters degree preferred. Secondary level NAD certifications/credentials (math, history, Bible, science) or the willingness to secure them is required.
