Job Summary: This proposed position combines two operational roles that directly impact the use and scheduling of production equipment resources of the School of Visual Art and Design (SVAD).
SVAD Productions Manager: The SVAD Productions manager oversees the operations of SVAD Productions in its mission to provide work opportunities for students by offering creative services and content.
Itemized Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in the development and execution of feature films and/or episodic shows as a means to provide learning experiences for students.
Procure work opportunities for SVAD Productions by promoting services to our university, church, and community partners.
Oversee administrative and production aspects of managing client accounts, including generating bids, drafting production contracts, and ensuring timely fulfillment for all deliverables.
Manage day-to-day financial operations of SVAD Productions, including job estimating, client billing, payroll, bookkeeping/accounting, monthly SVAD administrative briefings, quarterly financial summaries, and annual reports.
Provide creative/art direction to SVAD Productions clients and partners that will ensure acceptably high standards of quality for all projects.
Provide mentoring to help SVAD students understand and live up to professional standards for creative professionals.
SVAD Equipment and Facilities Manager: The SVAD equipment and facilities manager works closely with the film program coordinator to provide oversight of film production equipment and facilities utilized by students enrolled in classes within the School of Visual Art and Design.
Primary responsibilities include maintenance and inventory of all film production equipment at Ledford Hall, technical support for end users, and the training, supervising, and scheduling of student worker technicians in proper checkout/return, inventory, and maintenance of equipment procedures.
Itemized Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains and secures film production equipment.
Implements and maintains procedures for reservation and checkout of equipment.
Certifies and authorizes students to operate specialized pieces of equipment through written and practical tests; including but not limited to the following items: RED Dragon camera package, Canon C100 camera package, Blackmagic Camera Package, Whisperwatt towable 25KW Powerplant, Steadicam, Tulip Crane, and Panther Dolly.
Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all film production equipment, while accounting for any pieces of equipment that are out for repair.
Tracks usage and demand in order to facilitate strategic equipment purchases.
Facilitates and supervises on larger SVAD film productions.
Performs administrative work, such as scheduling of student workers, making arrangements for service of equipment, as well as packaging and shipping any equipment in need of repairs.
Anticipates evolving needs for facilities and equipment and works to implement necessary changes.
Experience: Qualifications: Have two years experience or a college degree in a related field in video, film, audio, stage lighting, set up, and maintenance. Experience in supervising high school or college students in a work related environment is a plus. Must be a self-starter, able to work without supervision, and be comfortable negotiating with current and prospective clients. Must possess good organizational skills, and be capable of maintaining accurate financial records. Must have the desire to grow professionally, including a willingness to learn new systems and procedures. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
