Description: Location: Food Servieces/Cafe
Hours: Full-time, hourly
Job Summary: Lead out in the supervision of students in salad during shift, utilizing them for preparation of all cold foods for all meals, and any additional special orders for catering or banquets.
Lead out and direct your student workers in salad area.
Be alert to the student employees attendance and performance
Understand and practice the best and proper methods of quality preparation for each item on menu and to maintain the highest of standards in all food production
Understand, maintain and practice good sanitation and cleaning procedures at all times
Practice safe food handling
Keep the kitchen as clean and neat as possible during the day
Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment - being prepared for Health Department at all times
Clean coolers once a week (or more as needed) making sure everything is rotated and dated.
Straighten shelves, pans and utensils once a week
Keep Dept. products in the stockroom neat and orderly
Help with the preparation of special functions
Help with the training of new student workers
Take your turn and lead out in weekend duty
Fill in for emergencies such as sick or absent employees
Stay in tune with the needs and concerns of the other salad supervisors
Organize work area for best production and sanitation
Be creative in food preparation and display
Notify the head of salad of any situation, problem, or suggestions that will help with general improvement of program
Maintain a Christian atmosphere in your area by precept and example
Check workers board for special orders and special functions
Make list out and organize jobs to be done during the day
Prepare special orders and organize special function jobs
Make special salads
Help prepare fresh fruit and vegetables for meals
Help in the setting up and breaking down of Salad and Dessert bars
Check temperatures to make sure they are maintained throughout the day. Keep all cold foods on deck 40 or below degrees at all times.
Perform deep cleaning and extra cleaning during breaks, slow times, or whenever asked to
Perform all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned
Experience: Education and Experience: A minimum of a high school diploma. College or trade school education preferred. Have a minimum of 5 years experience in Food Service. Supervision and management experience.
Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively. Be a self starter who displays neatness, cleanliness, and organizational skills and has the ability to motivate others to do the same. Be approachable, friendly, positive attitude, able to encourage others. Be able to have a good rapport with employees –especially students.
Skills and Aptitudes: Have a working knowledge of food service operations. Interpersonal relationship skills essential with ability to work with employees and students with a team spirit. Have safety-consciousness and promote within work force.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires repetitive hand motion, sitting, standing (sometimes standing in one place for prolonged periods of time), bending, and overhead reaching. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate food service equipment such as food slicers, chopping bowls, mixers and manual chopping with a knife. Requires normal range of motion, hearing, and vision.
Working Conditions: Essential task are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
