Description: Holbrook Indian School (HIS) is seeking to hire a head girls' dean for the 2018/2019 school year. This is a salaried, 10-month position with the salary spread over 12 months, reporting to work on July 30, 2018. Candidates should have a clear understanding of strategies that work with 1-12th grade girls and be able to work collaboratively with all departments with special emphasis on the counseling and maintenance departments. The dean is responsible for overall dorm cleanliness, communication with parents and colleagues, teaching a dorm curriculum that includes proactive systems for training students in proper hygiene, study habits, social skills, self-control, and most importantly the value of a relationship with Jesus. Preference will be given to candidates who are willing to make a long-term commitment to our students and who feel a calling to a job that requires complete dedication. This position is open until filled.
HIS is an accredited 1-12th grade boarding school operated directly by the Pacific Union Conference. As such, faculty and staff members receive remuneration and benefits according to the policies employed by all schools in the Pacific Union. As in many other SDA boarding schools, employees live in on-campus housing, especially deans. The average student population at HIS is 72 students, split evenly between 1-8th and 9-12th grades, with an additional 10-12 students at our one-teacher school in Chinle, Arizona.
Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years of experience, who have worked with 1-8th grade students, in addition to 9-12th graders, and who have a CDL with a passenger endorsement or are willing to get one. Experience supervising assistant deans, volunteers, and attending Administrative Committee meetings is a plus.
