Description: The Principal is the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Academy and is charged with providing leadership that maintains and forwards Glendale Adventist Academy’s commitment to excellence, as well as providing a vision for the future. The Principal is responsible for and must be committed to leadership which implements the principles of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, its denominational beliefs and particular approach to education, in all aspects of the Academy’s daily operations. Daily operations include the spiritual domains of the Academy; Board of Trustees goals and objectives; curriculum and instruction matters; faculty and staff performance evaluations; general Academy administration and management; the recruitment, selection, employment, retention and dismissal of faculty and staff; fundraising; collaboration with the Chairperson of the Board, School Board members and the Superintendent of Schools; collaboration with Academy auxiliary groups (Alumni Association, Foundation, and Parent Association); and collaboration with community groups for the advancement of Academy goals and objectives. In addition, the Principal works with the Assistant Business Manager to ensure sound management in all fiscal and facilities operations. The Principal serves as the chief spokesperson for the Academy and as the Executive Secretary for the School Board. The Principal represents the Academy on conference and union committees as assigned.
Experience: The Principal must be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He/She must possess an advanced degree in Educational Administration and Leadership or in an appropriate content area. Ed.D. /Ph.D. is desirable. He/She must hold or be eligible to hold appropriate regular teacher and administrative certificates as issued by the North American Division’s Office of Education of Seventh-day Adventists. The selected candidate will have three or more years of successful administrative leadership at the Academy (high school) level with strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. He/she is a proven instructional leader, capable of assisting teachers to achieve appropriate academic outcomes. Additionally, he/she must have a demonstrated ability to use appropriate data in decision-making. Has had involvement with institutional fundraising and development. Experience with diverse student populations a plus. Fingerprint and background check clearance is required.
