Description: The Department of Religion at Southwestern Adventist University invites applicants for a full-time teaching position in Applied Theology.
Preferred candidates will hold a D.Min. degree, but candidates with a master’s degree (M.Div.) may be considered. The successful candidate will also have strong pastoral and evangelistic experience.
The Religion department seeks to prepare Bible-centered pastors and other Christian leaders for ministry who are focused on the exposition of the Word of God. For this reason, the successful candidate should be supportive of the mission and message of the SDA Church as well as the mission of Southwestern Adventist University. The University seeks to offer a distinctive Adventist education and scholarly excellence that is founded on the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy of education and its tagline: Knowledge, Faith and Service.
Some of the specific duties and responsibilities of the selected candidate will include the following:
Teach 24 credit-hours per year in qualified disciplines • Develop and apply technology inside and outside the classroom • Use a Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas) to post syllabi, assignments, and grades • Submit midterm grades, final grades and attendance by scheduled deadlines • Hold weekly office hours • Participate in professional development • Oversee the Pastoral Internship Program • Coordinate and instruct the Field School of Evangelism program.
Experience: Essential qualifications: Excellent communication skills - written and verbal • Demonstrate a passion for ministry and student learning • Team work • Ability to teach lower and upper division courses in the area of Applied Theology.
