Description: The Vice President for Unity and Inclusion is a Full-time, Salaried/Exempt Position. This Vice President will provide leadership for areas of campus life that involve diversity including race, gender, sexual orientation and identity, and international students. Through committee work, research, presentations, overseeing grievance procedures, facilitating data-driven decision making, working with ethnic clubs, and similar activities, the vice president will work to achieve a harmonious, inclusive campus environment. Within the context of the mission and values of the University, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and Scripture, the vice president will also contribute to creating a strategic direction for the University. The vice president will affirm and nurture a university community and campus climate that values and actively supports equity and diversity. In addition, he/she will also be expected to contribute to building a campus culture that reflects the inestimable value of every human being, a culture that yields unity, dignity, respect, acceptance and love for each member of the campus family.

-Minimum Master’s Degree
-Higher education and teaching experience preferred
-Active, committed Seventh-day Adventist Christian
-Commitment to Southern Adventist University mission
-Commitment to Biblical worldview and high view of Scripture
-Current knowledge of diversity issues: research, history, literature, and legal and legislative guidelines (federal, state, and local laws)
-Successful experiences with arbitration and grievance procedures that lead to unity and healing
-International experience that includes cross-cultural engagement preferred
-Cross cultural competence, respect and sensitivity
-Experience and success with team building
-Commitment to customer service
-Excellent presentation skills with proven ability to develop content and elaborate publicly, to both large and small audiences
-Writing skills to produce a variety of working and published documents and reports
-Proven success in relating to college/student body populations
-Ability to maintain an appropriate and professional level of confidentiality when it comes to sensitive information.
