Description: • Serve as liaison between the local/global communities and Oakwood University • Work with staff members to publicize the achievements of the student body, faculty and staff and promote campus events through internal and external communications, publications and advertising • Incorporate advertising, print and on-line publications, promotions, media relations, and event planning in order to produce a unified message that is representative of Oakwood institutional policies, mission and vision • Serve as Executive Editor of Oakwood Magazine, the premier University publication which includes writing, editing and managing production and distribution • Work with the administration in planning, implementing and evaluating an integrated, campus-wide strategy of marketing and communication that achieves specific goals that contributes to the university mission • Foster long-term relationships with news media and escort media while on campus • Serve as the University's primary voice in print, electronic and social media • Other related duties as assigned

Experience: • Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, communications, public relations or English; Masters preferred • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in field of communications, communications management, marketing or other related area • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills • Proven ability to write stories for publications and write creatively for marketing purposes as well as ad copy • Tactful and flexible with proven customer services skills • Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task/prioritize demanding and time-sensitive projects to meet deadlines • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with changing priorities and take a positive team approach to working with industry and government partners • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint and other graphics and/or presentation software
