Description: Job Summary: The Associate Director of Catering will have primary responsibility of overseeing the Catering and Special function requests from the various departments of the University. They will also work with Guest Services to cater various events for customers outside of the University. Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate and organize staff workers to help in setting up and catering all meals in banquet room and other special events as needed Coordinate and communicate with the workers in each area of the Cafeteria, Deli, and KR’s to make sure they understand what is expected of them with each catering function Determine pricing and prepare estimates and quotes, as requested, for special events and catering request Purchase supplies and decorations for special functions Generate and process billing for special events and catering request Manage Caterease software program and keep it up to date Receive emails and calls for catering request and print the orders Post Special Event orders in each department-highlighting what portion of the event each department is responsible for. Make a list of special item foods that need to be ordered for events and give to the correct person to order. Oversee all meals catered in Presidential Banquet Room and all other special events and request. Receive emails and calls from other departments on campus to schedule banquet rooms for them Keep calendar up to date for Banquet Room reservations and special functions Gather utensils, paper ware, and other items for picnics and other various outings on campus or going off campus. Keep files on all catered events. Make notations for future improvements. Turn in all invoices to be billed, before the end of the month Keep Banquet Storage Rooms neat, clean, and organized Keep track of banquet supplies and equipment. Order more as becomes necessary. Research new ideas in catering Assist and collaborate with Director in developing departmental policies Assist and collaborate with Director in planning the budget Assist and collaborate with Director in managing personnel issues Assist and collaborate with Director in determining wage rates Cover for Director in Director’s Absence Perform all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned Special Requirements: An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, a SDA church member in good and regular standing. Able to have a good rapport with employees–especially students. Education and Experience: College or trade school education preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience in Food Service. Supervision and management experience.
Experience: Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively. A self-starter who displays neatness, cleanliness, and organizational skills and has the ability to motivate others to do the same. Approachable, friendly, positive attitude, able to encourage others. Skills and Aptitudes: Have a working knowledge of food service operations. Intermediate computer skills. Interpersonal relationship skills essential with ability to work with employees with a team spirit, the ability to interact appropriately with campus personnel. Must have strong verbal/written communication skills. Have safety-consciousness and promote within work force. Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, and telephone. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Working Conditions: Essential task are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
