Description: We are seeking a teacher who loves children and has a desire to see them saved. Preferably, this individual will be someone who has an interest in teaching upper grade students. However, departmentalization is an option at the school and may lead to the candidate teaching lower grades if necessary. The ideal candidate will also work diligently toward the continued implementation of a viable STEM program in the school. We are especially interested in someone who welcomes ongoing staff development for continuous teacher professional growth. Other: Emma L Minnis Academy is committed to training and encouraging scholars in a dynamic academic environment. ELMJA has offered educational services in Kentucky for over 100 years. Our school is in the historic Russell neighbor of downtown Louisville severs pre-k through eighth grade students in the community. The recent school building was built in 2010 where enrollment has gone from 24 to 49 scholars over the past four years. We foster the development of the whole person; spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. ELMJA provides a Christian learning environment for scholars with a responsibility to guide each student in developing meaningful relationships with their community and family. Our low student teacher ratio fosters individualize instruction. We have infused our curriculum with more sophisticated technology which includes Clear Touch televisions, MacBooks, and iPads to enhance instructional best practices. Experience: The candidate is preferably certified in Science/Math or be in a position to secure through a conditional certification. The applicant must have denominational certification or willingness to obtain it. We are searching for a teacher that has experience with implementing data-driven instruction, operating in a goal-oriented teaching environment and knows how to inspire students to achieve excellence. The applicant must be an active member of the SDA Church.
