Description: Mother Lode Adventist Junior Academy (MLAJA) is seeking a homeroom grade 5/6 classroom teacher. Additional junior academy endorsements are a plus. MLAJA is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, two hours east of San Francisco and one hour north of Yosemite National Park. This puts skiing, hiking, canoeing, and other outdoor activities close to the school. At the same time, San Francisco and other Bay Area attractions are only 130 miles away. The MLAJA community consists of an active and supportive church, a thriving Early Childhood Education Center, and an expanding Adventist hospital. A full-time office administrator handles day-to-day office duties and communications. The school receives additional support from an established endowment with assets exceeding $1.6 million.
Experience: Candidates will value the spiritual emphasis that is central to MLAJA’s mission, have a growth mindset, demonstrate strong organizational skills, effectively communicate with parents, and be able to add to the existing strengths of an exceptional staff. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in the 5/6 classroom along with additional duties based on certification. Applicants must be active members of the Seventh-day Adventist church and have proof of eligibility to work in the United States. (Hold current work visa and residency in the US if not a US citizen.) The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 1) holds or is qualified to receive Elementary Basic, Standard, or Professional NAD teaching certification; 2) has or is willing to work at multiple grade levels as part of the educational team; 3) maintains a Spiritual presence and commitment; 4) enjoys working as a team member to enhance student growth; 5) knowledgeable of elementary and junior high curriculum; 6) possesses qualities of organization, follow-through, motivation, and communication; 7) involved in school activities. Please send a resume with a cover letter, a summary of your philosophy of education, at least three references with email and phone contacts, and a copy of your current certification (NAD and/or state). Initial contact will be via email. Please note: Interviews will be scheduled as soon as there are qualified applicants.
