Description: POSITION SUMMARY To assist the academic vice president in overseeing student academic concerns, academic support areas, summer session, and the continuing education program. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Undergraduate Student Academic Items • Work with students and faculty concerning various academic related issues (petitions, credit overloads, late registration issues, integrity concerns, out-of-schedule exams, etc.). • Oversee and revise student academic policies (Academic Integrity, Grade Change, Academic Probation, academic trips and tours, etc.) in cooperation with governance bodies. • Administer student academic policies. • Provide timely communication of policy outcomes to students and university personnel. • Produce and publish quarterly dean's list. • Review Student Missions Program applicants for academic eligibility and appropriate assignment. • Serve as NAIA Faculty Representative and monitor student athlete eligibility data. 2. Oversee Academic Support areas; responsible for budget, personnel, and general oversight of: • Academic Records/Advisement • Student Development Career • Technical Support Services 3. Committee assignments include: • Academic Standards Committee (chair). • Preprofessional Committee (chair). • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Committee (chair). • Accreditation Steering Committee (chair). • Institutional Effectiveness Committee (ex officio). • Scuba Control Board (chair). • Admissions Committee (ex officio). • Athletics Advisory Committee (ex officio). • President’s Cabinet (ex officio). • University Senate (ex officio). • University Assembly (ex officio). • General Studies Committee (ex officio). • Academic Leadership (ex officio). • Rosario Advisory Committee (ex officio). • University Board (invitee). • University Board Academic Planning Committee (invitee). 4. Oversee cooperate educational programs • High school dual enrollment program(s) • Whitman College reciprocal agreement • Various external academic partner programs 5. Institutional Accreditation • Serve as accreditation liaison with NWCCU and AAA. • Oversee production of accreditation reports. • Communicate with institutional accrediting bodies. • Oversee department assessment process. • Implement various general institutional surveys (NSSE, Senior Survey, etc.) • Collect and analyze institutional level assessment data and generate reports. 6. Performs other duties as assigned formally or informally, orally or in writing.
