Description: Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy invites you to join our team. GAAA is located in Atlanta, GA and housed on a beautiful PreK- 12th grade campus. We are seeking to add a Media Specialist to our team. Essential duties will include: Creates an environment where collaboration and creative problem solving thrive. Serves as an essential member of the instructional and leadership teams to bring an ongoing commitment to the changing K-12 curriculum, innovative teaching, and staying current on best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment, and embracing and understanding the dynamic role that the integration of technology contributes to student learning. Advocates for the school library program to include communication with teachers and administrators to build and strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources. Study hall coordinator. Provides and plans professional learning opportunities and redeliver Conference initiatives for all stakeholders. Provides leadership and expertise in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, and organization of information resources and technologies in all formats and expertise in the ethical use of information. Evaluates, promotes, and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning, supplement school resources, connect the school with the global learning community, communicate with students and teachers, and ensures 24/7 access to the school's Mackin Library Resources and Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). Works collaboratively with members of the school library media committee to define the school-based policies of the school library program and to guide and direct all activities related to it. Assists students in becoming critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users
Experience: SDA Christian, Member and participant in a local SDA church, enjoys inspiring and working with young people. Masters preferred or B.S in Information Tech, Library Science or closely related field of study. Ability to provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library media program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program. Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and Google suite.
