Description
The Advancement Officer 3 is responsible for developing relationships with and soliciting gifts from alumni and friends of the University. Managing a portfolio of approximately 150 prospective donors, the officer facilitates the entire gift cycle, including routine contact, cultivation strategies, encouragement towards solicitation, and actual gift solicitations for University initiatives. They prioritize excellent stewardship, adhering to ethical standards and providing meaningful information and services to donors. The officer collaborates with University faculty, staff, volunteers, and administration to identify and share information about key stakeholders and donors. They serve as a University representative at events and activities, ensuring effective communication between the University and its constituents. Utilizing relationship management tools and adhering to fundraising processes, the officer stays current on WWU's academic and student life opportunities, policies, and requirements, accurately conveying this information to donors and key constituents. The role also involves a deep understanding of secondary education systems, particularly Seventh-day Adventist education, and staying informed about trends and projections for higher education philanthropy. The officer contributes to creating an environment reflective of WWU's core values, assists with alumni and advancement activities, serves in WWU's governance system, represents WWU in industry organizations, and upholds the university's policies for conduct, daily processes, and risk management. The duties and responsibilities of the position may be adjusted at the discretion of WWU senior management.
Required Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree or significant experience in philanthropy, planned giving, marketing/sales, communications, public relations or other related fields.
