Description
Pacific Union College is seeking a Professor of Nursing that will be a member of the Nursing Faculty at Pacific Union College.
• Assess the need for clinical and classroom learning experiences that facilitate student attainment of course objectives;
• Plan, develop, and implement clinical and classroom learning experiences that facilitate critical thinking and student attainment of course objectives;
• Prepare and revise course syllabi;
• Evaluate student progress;
• Assist in activities furthering the work of the institution;
• Communicate necessary information to students;
• Provide academic advise to students as needed and serve on standing and ad hoc committees as needed;
• Provide competent instruction in the clinical and theoretical areas of nursing;
• Serve as college representative in the clinical agency area;
• Support research activities in the department;
• Participate in and contribute to the team-teaching of classroom and clinical courses and model team-enhancing behavior for students;
• Serve as a role model for students in professional interaction with other health workers and with clinical facilities;
• Maintain relationships with clinical sites and professional peers that support the reputation of the College and the Practical Nursing Program;
• Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work, in meeting classes, and in keeping office hours;
• Collect, record, maintain and submit accurate class records including grades, absences, withdrawal and/or class drop information to appropriate offices;
• Maintain attendance records for clinical groups and for classes taught and turn these records into the Division office promptly;
• Serve on College and Nursing Staff committees as needed;
• Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria;
• Participate in scheduled in-service activities;
• Promote student development through enrichment and mentoring experiences;
• Serve as academic advisor and mentor;
• Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, and the faculty handbook and follow such policies and procedures;
• Perform any other professional duties as assigned by the Division Dean;
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of nursing curriculum and how it is implemented;
• Demonstrate awareness of own learning needs to maintain current competency in areas of responsibility and seek ways to meet those needs;
• Demonstrate commitment to professional development by participating in continuing education programs that foster life-long learning.
Required Experience
• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Equiv Foreign Degree;
• 18 mos. of Clinical Experience as a Registered Nurse;
• 1 year of Assistant Teaching Experience in a professional Nursing program or as a nursing staff educator in the service setting, or Educational Preparation in Nursing Education;
• Meets CA BRN criteria for Assistant Instructor or Instructor;
• Current Licensure in the State of California as a Registered Nurse.
