Description
The Director of Academic Advisement leads the university in implementing a faculty-led advising model to enhance student success and retention. This involves overseeing the development of effective academic advising, educating new advisors, and coordinating informational meetings. The director manages advisor survey evaluations, collaborates in selecting an annual advising award recipient, and communicates regularly with advisors on student progress. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities such as preparing and publishing advisement information, overseeing advising and registration for first-time freshmen and transfer students, documenting student interactions, addressing retention issues, and managing administrative tasks like budgeting and processing requests for changes in major. The director actively participates in campus committees related to academic standards, admissions, and student financial aid.
Required Experience
Requirements for this position include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for candidates holding a master's degree. No specific licenses or certifications are required, and candidates should ideally possess 3-5 years of relevant experience. New hires typically start at the pay grade S9, ranging from $53,371.22 to $60,649.12 per hour based on qualifications.
