Eastwood Seventh-day Adventist Junior Academy (EJA) is seeking a dedicated, mission-driven educator to join our faculty as a 5th Grade Teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Located in the beautiful, vibrant community of Westerville, Ohio, EJA is a K-8 school committed to showing Jesus to our students, nurturing their love for Him, and empowering them for a lifetime of service.
At Eastwood, we don’t just teach; we mentor. We believe the 5th-grade year is a pivotal chapter where academic curiosity begins to bloom into independent critical thinking. We are looking for a visionary who recognizes that education is a sacred ministry, an "Innovative Pioneer" who can weave spiritual depth into a 21st-century classroom.
The Narrative: A Classroom of Purpose and Discovery
As the 5th Grade Teacher at EJA, your primary objective is the restoration of the image of God in every student. We seek a spiritual leader who views the classroom as a mission field where character development and academic excellence are inseparable. You will guide students through our "Connect, Care, Repair" core values, teaching them to first reconnect with Jesus before seeking reconciliation with others. This philosophy is grounded in redemptive discipline, utilizing grace-based classroom management that mirrors Christ’s love and fosters an environment where students feel safe to take risks and learn from their mistakes.
Simultaneously, you will lead your students into the future by implementing educational best practices. We prioritize Inquiry-Based Learning and Differentiated Instruction, ensuring that every student’s individual growth is nurtured. You will move beyond traditional lectures to become a facilitator of discovery, turning your classroom into a hub for Grit and Collaboration. Whether students are troubleshooting a complex math problem or iterating a collaborative science project, they will learn to see challenges as opportunities to develop the mental and spiritual strength God intended for them.
The Westerville Advantage & Community Support
Our campus extends far beyond the four walls of the classroom. Westerville and the greater Columbus area provide a rich tapestry of educational "laboratories" that our 5th-grade teacher will be expected to utilize. From the scientific wonders of COSI (Center of Science and Industry) to the natural, outdoor classrooms of Blendon Woods Metro Park, your curriculum will turn Central Ohio into a living campus. Imagine studying history at the Westerville Public Library—a national landmark for the temperance movement—or exploring the intersection of art and design at the Columbus Museum of Art.
You will not walk this path alone. EJA provides a robust support system designed for educator success:

Eastwood SDA Junior Academy
The Eastwood SDA Junior Academy family exists to show children Jesus, nurture their love for Him and others, teach them to think, and empower them to serve.
In 1900, the congregation of Eastwood SDA Church purchased a building on South Ohio Avenue, and just two years later in 1902, they began a school in the church basement: Eastwood Seventh-day Adventist Junior Academy. Through the decades, the school grew and flourished, changing locations several times. On August 5th, 2005, a new property was purchased at 6400 S. Sunbury Rd., Westerville, Ohio. Early the next spring, construction of the new school began. Finally, on August 28th, 2006, we had our first day of school in our new and final home.
