The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at Andrews University is seeking a highly skilled and innovative individual for a full-time (12-month) tenure track Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) faculty to teach in a NAACLS accredited MLS Program. The applicant should possess skills to effectively teach university courses for MLS students and participate in appropriate scholarly and service activities consistent with the vision, mission, and philosophy of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences. The candidate should demonstrate competence in both didactic and clinical education as well as curriculum development.

 

Duties and responsibilities

A full-time (12-month) tenure track Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) faculty to teach in the NAACLS accredited MLS Program with skills and innovation required to effectively teach university courses for MLS students and participate in appropriate scholarly and service activities consistent with the vision, mission, and philosophy of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Andrews University. Eligible candidates should have a minimum of three years of generalist clinical experience with a preferred emphasis on immunology/immunohematology (blood bank/transfusion medicine). Ideal candidates should demonstrate competence in both didactic and clinical education and the ability to deliver MLS curriculum both in the traditional classroom setting and online.

Primary Duties:

  • Teach clinical/medical laboratory science courses and their respective student laboratories as required to meet and maintain NAACLS accreditation standards for the Medical Laboratory Science Program.
  • Participate in curriculum review and development.
  • Participate in student assessment and evaluation.
  • Serve as an academic advisor.
  • Work with adjunct clinical instructors at affiliate facilities, including clinical site visitation (travel required).
  • Serve on assigned department and university committees.
  • Engage in research activities with students and colleagues.
  • Participate in student recruiting activities.

 

Required Experience
  • Master’s degree in MLS or related area.
  • Doctoral or Ph.D. degree preferred.
  • National (U.S.) recognized Medical Laboratory Science certification such as that offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
  • Minimum of three years of generalist clinical experience with preferred emphasis on immunology/immunohematology (blood bank/transfusion medicine)
  • Commitment to professional development. 

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
