Description
The Vice President for Advancement provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of all alumni and advancement activities that support the mission of Pacific Union College. The Vice President oversees Planned Giving, Philanthropy, Strategic Partnerships, and Alumni Relations programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Develops, implements, and manages a strategic plan for the Advancement Department. · Organizes events for the President, to cultivate and engage donors from community partners. · Establishes, implements, and monitors advancement policies established by President’s Cabinet and the Board of Trustees. · Provides oversight of the Alumni Advisory Committee, President’s Council, President’s Circle, and other committees as assigned. · Serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet, which meets on a weekly basis in planning, policy making, and executive leadership of the college. · Assigns responsibilities for personal solicitation to members of staff, volunteer organizations, and governing body, according to special interests and capabilities. Provides training and support to others involved in engaging donors. · Assures a strong and lasting program in donor database management to identify potential donors and partners, maintain detailed records of contributors and grants, and in preparing letters of appreciation, and other donor communication. · Manages the enlistment, orientation, appreciation of volunteers. · Cultivates and solicits contributions from the Board of Trustees and assists them with the solicitation of major gifts from appropriate prospects. Submits information on a timely basis to recognized advancement organizations which collect national data. · HR responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training department employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; annual performance reviews; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
Required Experience
Education, Experience, and Requirements · Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred. · 5-7 years of experience in donor and constituent relationships. · Senior management experience preferred. · Experience in Higher Education preferred. · Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred (if not currently possessed, a willingness to attain). · The ability and willingness to travel as needed. · Excellent relationship building, oral, and written communication skills. · A strong commitment to Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Higher Education. · Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and an SDA church member in good and regular standi
