As the Key Shop Foreman within Facility Services, the primary responsibility involves designing master key systems and ensuring effective key control. This entails meeting with various stakeholders to understand their access needs and implementing appropriate master key solutions. Additionally, maintaining records on key control, rekeying when necessary, and overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of access control systems are key duties. The role also involves hardware installation, repair, and maintenance of doors, including swipe lock systems. Egress safety and compliance with building codes are crucial aspects, requiring collaboration with city officials and staying updated on safety regulations. Responsibilities extend to electronic key boxes, assisting other trades as needed, and performing additional assigned duties.

Required Experience

Education for the Key Shop Foreman position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred qualifications include an equivalent combination of education and experience in locksmithing, door hardware, and low voltage systems. Licensure or certification as a locksmith is required, or completion of Genetec Security Center Synergis Certification Training within 6 months of hire date if not already obtained. Candidates should ideally possess 3-5 years of experience, with 5-10 years preferred, demonstrating excellence in work processes, attention to detail, and adherence to university policies and regulatory requirements. Essential skills include a customer-focused approach, effective communication, collegiality, initiative, efficiency, coachability, and the ability to manage people effectively. Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft Office, an aptitude for multiple computer programs, problem-solving skills, mathematical proficiency, and knowledge of keys, locks, and door hardware are required. Preferred qualifications include proficiency in specific software such as SimpleK and Genetec. The compensation for this role ranges from $24.35 to $27.67 per hour.
