Hong Kong Adventist Academy (HKAA) offers an American curriculum to students from G1-12. Students and teachers from 35 countries come each work day to our breathtaking campus at Clear Water Bay. We seek to hire a full-time Secondary School Science and Math Teacher for the new school year beginning August 2025. Job benefits include health care and life insurance, housing subsidy and educational subsidy for your children who study at HKAA. Major responsibilities of the job include teaching content and skills in Science and Math course of studies adopted by the Hong Kong EDB and Griggs' standards in teaching individual course content. The teacher is expected to develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. He/she needs to ensure that HKAA achieves goals that have been set for the Science and Math departments, and collaborate with colleagues to prepare students for college and career. Other responsibilities include aligning student assessment with instructional goals, appropriate to the needs of the student, and providing a safe and optimal learning environment, be it in the classroom or in the laboratory. Additionally, the candidate needs to actively support school-wide focus areas (e.g. HKAA values) and ensure that these are embedded in the Science and Math subject practices. Additionally, he/she needs to use pedagogically appropriate technological tools in the teaching and learning process. From time to time, the teacher needs to coordinate with the Science and Math department heads and Registrar to review, verify and recommend digital and physical textbooks and library books.
Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or higher in Science/Math with a teaching certificate. He/she must have a minimum 2 years of teaching experience in high school. Teaching experience in Advanced Placement Science/Math subjects is desirable. Other requirements include demonstrable evidence of creating/innovating/adapting high school curricula to engage teenagers, experience with designing and implementing effective and creative inquiry-based units of study, and experience in managing classrooms with diverse students and different learning abilities (including students with special needs). Candidate also needs to demonstrate passion for education and Science/Math subjects; possess a solid understanding of secondary school program organization, programs and students; possess a proven ability to differentiate instruction and integrate learning; and a positive, client-centric and service-oriented attitude, with a commitment to the Christian mission of HKAA.
