Portland Adventist Elementary School (PAES) is seeking candidates for a 4th grade homeroom teaching position for the 2024-25 school year. Some flexibility is desired as it is possible it could be a 4th/5th position depending on enrollment totals and distribution.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Collaborating with grade-level team and reading interventionist for planning and meeting the needs of students

- Developing and maintaining a safe, loving, clean, and structured classroom environment

- Planning and implementing engaging lessons and units of study 

- Communicating clearly and effectively with parents, children, and colleagues both in person and via emails and newsletters

- Developing rapport with students, families, and colleagues

- Meeting the needs of students who come from diverse backgrounds and vary in their ranges of ability

- Actively supervising students for lunch, recess, and other daily activities

- Tracking, monitoring, and communicating student growth and progress using standards-referenced proficiency scales (standards-based grading)

- Implementing restorative practices for behavior issues

- Modeling and sharing Jesus' love with children

- English language proficiency: Professional/Master 

- SDA teaching credential (preferred, can be earned)

- Bachelor's Degree or higher (elementary ed preferred)

- Experience teaching 4th grade (preferred)

- Experience with Standard-based Learning (preferred)
