Takoma Academy is a 9th-12th day academy located in Takoma Park, Maryland. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic-minded individual to fill the role of Director of Development, Recruitment, and Alumni Relations position on a part-time basis. This position plays a crucial role in advancing our school's mission by overseeing student recruitment, fostering development initiatives, and cultivating strong relationships with alumni.

Student Recruitment

  • Develop and execute comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract prospective students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administration to identify student needs and establish recruitment goals.
  • Utilize innovative methods to enhance student recruitment efforts, including social media, campus events, and partnerships with elementary schools and educational organizations.
  • Organize and participate in recruitment events, such as open houses, education days, and school visits.
  • Provide guidance and support to prospective students and their families throughout the admissions process.

 

Development Initiatives

  • Design and implement fundraising campaigns and initiatives to support the school’s strategic goals.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and community stakeholders to secure financial support.
  • Manage donor stewardship programs to ensure ongoing engagement and support.
  • Oversee the annual giving program to encourage regular donations from various stakeholders.
  • Organize and manage special events and campaigns, such as donor luncheons, silent auctions, and capital campaigns to raise significant funds.
  • Establish and maintain a donor recognition program to acknowledge and appreciate contributors.
  • Conduct regular assessments and analyses of development activities to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

 

Alumni Relations

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with alumni through effective communication and engagement strategies.
  • Plan and execute alumni events, reunions, and networking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with alumni to foster a culture of giving back and support for current students and programs.
  • Organize an annual career day in collaboration with alumni to provide networking and mentorship opportunities for current students.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Marketing, Communications, or a related field 
  • Proven experience in student recruitment, fundraising, or alumni relations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and implementing successful initiatives.
  • Embodies a growth mindset that leads to daily reflection of practice.
  • Supports a climate that values and understands that excellence and achievement are at the core of our work, and that excuses are irrelevant.
