Responsibilities  Leadership

  • Provide visionary leadership  to create a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision  of teaching and administrative staff.
  • Manage preschool's finances, budgeting, spending and marketing.
  • Manage personnel including hiring, scheduling, and firing according to CA State and CCC regulations.
  • Conduct monthly Preschool board meetings, send minutes to  CCC ECC Director, and share a report to local school board as required.

 Staff Management: 

  • Observe and evaluate staff regularly, providing feedback as to how they are performing. 
  •  Do a yearly formal evaluation on each staff member, providing them with a written copy of the review. 
  • Set up daily staffing assignments. 
  •  Coordinate time off and vacations to ensure quality programming in the absence of individual staff members. 
  •  Plan and lead out in monthly staff meetings. 
  •  Meet regularly with the lead teacher to plan the curriculum and deal with problems as they arise. 
  •  Arrange for workshops or other professional growth activities.
  •  Work with teachers to set up goals for personal and professional   growth. Interview and hire new staff. 
  1. Managing Children's Programs:
  • Supervise the implementation and planning of long and short-range goals for children's programs. 
  • Provide necessary materials and supplies that the staff will need to carry out curriculum ideas. 
  •  Plan enrichment activities in coordination with the Lead teacher to provide rich resources for the classroom teachers. 
  • Work with teachers to create balanced, child-centered activities that foster independence and self-esteem. 
  •  Ensure that Helping Hands provides a distinctive Seventh-day Adventist philosophy that is evident throughout all teachings. 

 

Required Experience

Qualifications: 

* Meet the requirements for a director as outlined in the State of California childcare facility and licensing regulations section 101215. 

  • Applicant must be a Seventh-day Adventist church member in regular standing 
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. (Hold current work visa and residency in the US if not a US citizen.).  
  • Demonstrate leadership ability in dealing with teachers, preschool board,  school board, additional staff members, and parents. 
  • Must be able to organize and motivate teachers into an effective teaching team. 
  •  Must be willing to pursue growth and improvement in the preschool program. 
  • Must have practical oral and written communication skills. 
  •  Must utilize organizational skills to them many areas needed to operate an early childhood center. 
  • Be able to see the physical needs of the facility and plan for ongoing maintenance. Have a basic knowledge of health, safety, and nutrition in a theoretical and practical sense. 
  • Must have knowledge of current trends and practices in early childhood education. Be knowledgeable in state licensing requirements. 
  • Wage is commensurate to qualifications:  $24.15- $29.85 hourly.
