Full-time Faculty in Family Nursing

Description

Walla Walla University’s School of Nursing seeks applications for a faculty with expertise in obstetrics and pediatric nursing to be the lead instructor in a course entitled “Nursing of the Family.” This junior level course places students in clinical settings in obstetrics/labor and delivery as well as acute pediatric units. Students are directly supervised by faculty in groups as they provide direct patient care. This faculty member would be expected to supervise students two days per week in clinical with the assistance of 2-3 part-time clinical instructors supervising groups at other locations.

In addition to teaching Nursing of the Family three times per year, this faculty member will teach an elective class at least one quarter during the school year and typically teach a fundamentals level course during the summer (usually every other year). Faculty member will assist with curriculum changes. A full-time faculty position includes participation in School of Nursing and University-wide committee work.  

Required Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required – Doctorate preferred
  • At least 3 years of nursing experience obstetrics and pediatrics
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • RN licensure in Oregon and Washington required
  • Must be able to drive and have own transportation to clinical
  • Good communication skills 
  • Able to work with students individually and in small groups
  • Well organized with an air of confidence
  • Adaptability to the changing health care system
  • Able to work with all types of learners

Compensation: Placement of the new hire within the faculty pay schedule is dependent on education, qualifications, certifications, and professional experience. The pay ranges from $66,304 to $88,783 annually. Nursing program stipend may be available, up to $10,000.
