The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) is the second officer of the university, serving as the Vice-President for Academic Administration. The primary function of the CAO serves to ensure that relevant academic activities contribute to the fulfillment of the university’s mission. This person carries broad responsibility for the university’s academic programs, goals, and excellence. The CAO reports to the President and is a member of the President’s Cabinet.
The CAO must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing that holds a doctoral degree. This individual must show evidence of effective sprititual and academic leadership. Other qualifications can be found in the qualifications section of the full job description.

Among other duties and responsibilities, the Chief Academic Officer is expected to perform the following:
The following individuals report to the CAO: the associate and assistant academic VPs, all academic deans, the registrar, and the principals of Andrews Academy and RMES.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Ability to function effectively within the traditional Microsoft Office suite
Must maintain positive relationships with on- and off-campus constituent groups.
Normal office physical demands, walking around campus, and capacity for travel, locally and internationally.
Regular office environment.
