Principal

Battle Creek Academy in Battle Creek, MI
Lake Union Conference | Michigan Conference
Description

Battle Creek Academy (BCA), the flagship school of Adventist Education, located in Battle Creek, Michigan, is seeking applications for the position of principal. Battle Creek Academy is a K-12 day school supported by three local constituent Seventh-day Adventist churches. The constituent church leaders are actively engaged in the growth visioning process for both the school and the church communities, and they are eager to collaborate closely with the incoming principal to further align their visions and resources to support the school’s development and ensure a thriving future for the school and supporting churches. Battle Creek Academy is at a crossroads in its journey, as are many of our Adventist Educational institutions. In light of that, Battle Creek Academy is seeking an experienced successful professional administrator to help sustain this historical institution in the short term and work toward creating an environment for this school to flourish and become a model of sustainability for other Adventist schools. Above all, we are seeking sincere, team-oriented, compassionate and nurturing candidates desirous of introducing and modeling a rich personal relationship with Jesus to the students that will be entrusted to them on a daily basis.

Battle Creek is located in south central Michigan. It has been nick named “Cereal City,” as it is best known as the home of the WK Kellogg Company and the founding city of Post Consumer Brands. Battle Creek was a major stop on the Underground Railroad and was the chosen home of noted abolitionist, Sojourner Truth after her escape from slavery. Battle Creek is not only steeped in secular history but was the canvas upon which much of our early Adventist history was painted.  Our first hospital, college and publishing office made Battle Creek their home. Battle Creek Academy opened in 1872 as the first Seventh-day Adventist denominationally sponsored school. The forty acre BCA campus is located less than a mile away from the Historic Adventist Village.

Battle Creek Academy is just over an hour northeast of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. The nearest Lake Michigan beach to Battle Creek is in South Haven just 54 miles to the west. The Field of Flight Air Show & Hot Air Balloon Festival is an annual event that draws spectators from far and wide to Battle Creek each summer. Battle Creek as the Cereal City, is also know for the annual World’s Longest Breakfast Table & Cereal Festival.  The Binder Park Zoo is another desired destination in Battle Creek which desires to connect people with nature and inspire them to conserve. Just 20 minutes from town, the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary and Kellogg Forest provide yet two more opportunities to connect with Gods second book.
