Job Title Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses 
    • Commitment to Seventh-day Adventist values
    • Ability to engage students in rigorous academic exploration
    • Ability to implement effective teaching strategies that promote student learning
    • Current knowledge of the field
    • Ability to connect with students and to track student progress in ways that promote success
  • Develop community relationships and develop field-based experiences with community partners
  • Department duties 
    • Advising and Mentoring students
    • Program Development in collaboration with department faculty
    • Research and ongoing academic pursuits
    • Community service projects with the department
    • Actively support department on campus and outreach to community
  • Committees 
    • Education Department Admissions and Review in addition to other committees as deemed necessary by the Department Chair and/or the Academic Vice President
  • Potential List of courses to teach – subject to change 
    • Language and Literacy courses
    • Bilingual and ESL certification courses
    • Teaching Methods courses
  • Supervision of clinical teachers and interns
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

 

Required Experience

Requirements:  

University Requirement

Must have strongly expressed a commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church in good and regular standing. Must have a desire to serve in a collaborative environment. 

 

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate and master’s degree in education
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education related field is strongly preferred
  • Post secondary teaching experience preferred
  • Successful teaching experience in Texas public schools and/or Seventh-day 

Adventist schools in kindergarten through 12th grade. 

  • Valid teacher licensure in the State of Texas (or other State), current Seventh-

       Day Adventist Certification

  • Bilingual certification strongly preferred

 

  • Ability to connect with peers, students, teachers in the field and school 

administrators

  • Demonstrated excellence in areas of teacher certification.
  • Experience in bilingual education and supporting English learners
  • Deep knowledge of pedagogy, learning theories, lesson planning, classroom management, assessment, and teaching English learners. 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
