Guam Adventist Academy is seeking an English teacher for Grades 9-12 as soon as January 2025. The ideal candidate will be a Christ-like role model for students, have a passion for teaching and engaging young learners, and will work well with other teachers to help students grow academically and spiritually. 

GAA currently has an enrollment of 101 amazing students from grades 1-12. Its location in the Pacific provides many opportunities to spend time in nature and to experience Chamorro culture and cuisine.

Salary and benefits are based on the denominational wage scale and policies. Interviews may take place before the resume due date. 

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education or an associated degree (Master's degree preferred)
• Valid teaching certification (denominational credentials and/or state certification)
• Member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who reflects a Christian lifestyle supporting Adventist beliefs and values
• Prior experience teaching English Language Arts is preferred
• Prior experience teaching English as a second language is preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to integrate a Christ centered English curriculum utilizing the NAD guidelines

The ideal candidate will:

• Foster a classroom environment that promotes academic excellence, creativity, and promotes a biblical worldview
• Engage students who need enrichment or enhancement of curriculum in order to help students towards academic excellence
• Be familiar with the various standardized and aptitude testing to use as a tool for evaluating students 
• Collaborate with colleagues and school administration as a team player
• Maintain open communication with staff, students, and parents
