Great Lakes Adventist Academy is searching for a full-time Mathematics Teacher who is committed to the mission and message of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is passionate about ministering to young people in a boarding school setting. The position will begin the 2025-2026 school year.
Great Lakes Adventist Academy is a 9-12 grade boarding academy located in Cedar Lake, Michigan and it serves approximately 185 students (over 90% boarding). We have seen continuous growth in enrollment over the past five school years, speaking to the stability and growth of the school program. GLAA was established in 1987 when Cedar Lake Academy (est. 1898) and Adelphian Academy (est. 1904) merged to become one school, and the school is well established and rich with history. The selected individual will be responsible for teaching a full teaching load of mathematics courses, including higher-level courses such as calculus. The ideal candidate will be relational, inclusive, and professional. He/she will create a Christ-centered classroom environment that is engaging and makes learning math exciting.
Other school responsibilities will also include being a member of a supervision team, leading students as a class/organization sponsor, serving on committees, helping with home leave transportation, attending monthly staff meetings, and any additional duties outlined by the principal. We have a very close-knit staff family, and the ideal candidate will be a team player who is willing to be part of a wonderful, supportive school community. All full-time, salaried employees are required to live on campus, so campus housing will be provided at a reasonable rent.
Applicants must be committed, regularly attending Seventh-day Adventist church members in good standing and possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Preference may be given to teachers who possess a Master’s degree and/or have at least 3 years of teaching experience, but new teachers are welcome to apply!
Applicants must be denominationally certified through the North American Division and will also need to become certified in the state of Michigan. Wages will be based on the Lake Union Wage Scale. The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English and must already be eligible to work in the United States.
