Description

Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Financial Administration (VPFA) aligns institutional resources to achieve the university's mission, vision, and strategic initiatives. Acting in cooperation with other administrators and departmental leaders, the VPFA guides the financial operation of the university with responsible stewardship.

  • Helps to shape and implement strategic priorities in the university's strategic plan; plays a leading role in assisting colleagues and administrators in charting the university's future
  • Oversees the departments of Financial Administration, Human Resources (including Risk Management and Insurance), Food Services, Information Systems, Plant Services (including Transportation, Grounds, and Custodial), Campus Store, Non-Dormitory Housing and Leaseholds, Reiner Wellness Center, and Union Manor
  • In cooperation with the controller and the financial team, oversees the finance and budget function of the university including the development and administration of operating and capital budgets; oversees the operations of accounting, general ledger, cash flow management, tax and governmental reporting, payroll, auditing, and financial policy compliance; oversees endowment management and other university investments

Required Experience
  • Must be currently authorized to work legally in the United States
  • An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Chruch; a Seventh-day Adventist church member in good and regular standing
  • 7+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience; degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA or CMA preferred but not required, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in higher education financial administration preferred, however, candidates from other areas of financial management will be considered
  • Must be comfortable using modern technology and communication tools with extensive experience using accounting computer software and Microsoft Office
  • Proven track record of strategic decision-making, and experience in solving complex problems
  • Ability to foster a positive and productive work environment with the ability to develop, empower, and motivate people and teams
  • Attitude of servant leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and collaborative skills
  • Able to mediate difficult situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
