Full-time Faculty, Flight Training Manager

The Technology Department invites applications for a full-time position in Aviation. The Flight Training Manager is responsible the following duties: teaching aviation lecture classes, providing flight instruction, academic advisement to aviation majors, oversight of all flight training, and fulfilling typical WWU full-time faculty obligations. Additional responsibilities include: student flight scheduling, public relations, internship opportunities, facility/equipment management, and Transportation Security Administration compliance. The aviation faculty will work together on curriculum changes, maintaining flight course syllabi, annual program assessment, the annual budget and equipment needs, fundraising, alumni relations, and the Technology Advisory Board annual meeting. The successful candidate should be a dedicated Seventh-day Adventist Christian committed to integrating their faith with teaching and scholarship.

Required Experience

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Broad understanding of the aviation industry with specific experience in flight operations
  • Commercial pilot license
  • FAA certified flight instructor
  • Minimum FAA 3rd class Flight Medical Certificate
  • Effective communication, organization, and administrative skills
  • Works well under high pressure and constantly changing conditions
  • Ability to multi-task, collect and analyze information, define problems, set priorities and draw valid conclusions
  • Proven experience with budget management

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in Aviation or related field
  • Airline Transport Pilot License
  • FAA certified flight instructor (CFII, MEI) with 500 flight hours of delivered training
  • Demonstrated experience teaching all aspects of Aviation in a classroom and cockpit setting
