Position summary
The School of Social Work at Andrews University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Social Work beginning July 1, 2025. Interest in BSW Program Director position is highly desirable. Teaching areas may include Introduction to Social Work, Social Welfare, Foundations of Practice, and Social Policy. Background in clinical settings is desirable. Other responsibilities include academic advising, recruiting and service to the department, University, and the surrounding community. Duties and responsibilities
- Promote the mission of the University, College of Arts & Sciences, and the School of Social Work
- Carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, and research.
- Work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
- Prepare course materials, deliver lectures, administer and grade student assignments/examinations, particularly in areas relating to foundation clinical practice, social policy, and social welfare.
- PREFERRED: Director of BSW Program, which includes program coordination, recruiting, and general student support in matriculation through BSW program; includes 25% teaching load reduction.
- Conduct student advising and mentoring, primarily with undergraduate students.
- Visit local agencies to provide internship oversight for students as a Faculty Liaison.
- Conduct research and present and publish research findings in peer reviewed forums.
- Serve on department and university committees as assigned by Department Chairperson.
- Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
- Arrange accommodations for students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Attend Department, School and University faculty meetings and committees as scheduled.
- Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Supervisory responsibilities
Oversight of the BSW Degree program, including assisting faculty who teach BSW-level classes with necessary supports and oversight
Technical competencies
- Current knowledge and experience in the use of information and computer applications, such as word processing, statistical analysis tools, spreadsheets, or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Ability to utilize different methods and media in delivering course materials.
- Ability to effectively use online classroom management systems.

- Physical demands of this job are in keeping with being a faculty member in an educational institution.
- Be able and available to travel by personal vehicle or commercial transportation for distant assignments.
