Description

Forest Lake Education Center (FLEC) is a large pre-k through eighth-grade school located in Longwood, Florida, just 8 miles from downtown Orlando and very close to Forest Lake Academy. The school has an enrollment of over 670 students, with each grade having multiple teachers and classrooms. FLEC is actively pursuing certification through Marzano High Reliability Schools. They have completed Levels 1 & 2 certification and are pursuing Level 3 for the 2025-2026 school year. FLEC has an opening for a seventh-grade English/Language Arts teacher for the coming school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about young people, takes an active role in improving student outcomes, and is willing to grow professionally and participate in Professional Learning Communities. The seventh-grade English/Language Arts teacher will guide students in their development of their love of reading and literature as well as assist the students in building their proficiency in being effective writers. The teacher will be enthusiastic about young people and willing to work with school administration and the seventh-grade team to create opportunities for the students to not only grow academically, but to grow in their “love of God and service to others.” In addition, the teacher must be a team player and willing and able to work with the other seventh-grade teachers in managing a holistic program for the seventh-grade students. Responsibilities include teaching seventh-grade English/Language Arts, a seventh-grade homeroom, and shared seventh-grade management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional management and leadership abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and a proven capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, staff, and other stakeholders. Required Experience

Applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and already have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence of such if employed. North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification is required and must be maintained. Successful classroom experience is preferred. Must have a service-oriented attitude, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with students and families of diverse backgrounds. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, self-directed, and motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, and proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.
