Union Springs Academy, situated in beautiful upstate NY’s Fingerlakes, is seeking a dynamic Girls Dean assistant to facilitate the residential life program for female students. The Girls Dean assistant supports the Head Dean to create a nurturing and supportive Christian environment that encourages students' spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth. This critical role requires a strong commitment to the mission and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and includes oversight of residential life, mentorship, and administrative functions.

Residential Life Leadership:

  • Love the students into Christ by serving them and modeling the Christlike value you want them to embody.
  •  Ensure the girls dorm embodies Christian principles of respect, integrity, compassion, and love.
  •  Develop and enforce dormitory rules and policies rooted in Christian values to foster a safe and spiritually uplifting environment.
  • Respond to disciplinary or behavioral concerns, incorporating principles of forgiveness, reconciliation, and restorative practices.
  • Oversee the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of dormitory facilities in collaboration with maintenance and support staff.
  • Plan and implement spiritual, social, and recreational activities to build community and strengthen students' Christian faith and connections.

Student Mentorship and Guidance:

  •  Provide spiritual mentorship to female students, encouraging personal devotion, prayer, and Bible study.
  •  Support students’ academic, emotional, and social development through regular check-ins and active engagement in their lives.
  • Mediate conflicts and offer pastoral care to students dealing with challenges, ensuring a loving and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with school chaplain and parents to meet the needs of individual students holistically.


Administrative and Supervisory Duties:

Collaborate with administrative staff and faculty to integrate residential life with the school’s overall mission and academic program.

 

Required Experience

Personal Attributes: 
o    Strong personal commitment to the beliefs, values, and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
o    Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
o    Ability to manage conflicts and foster a positive environment using principles of reconciliation and love.


Salary and Benefits:
Salary and benefits are based on the denomination’s wage scale policy for 10-month employment and will be commensurate with experience and credentials.

Individuals must have the legal right to live and work in the United States and provide evidence of that right if employed.
