Position summary

Faculty position with expertise in Adventist Studies, additional competencies in Church History and American Church History. The position also includes advising and mentoring of doctoral church history and Adventist Studies students

 

Qualifications summary

An earned doctorate (PHD), record of academic engagement and publications, and an ongoing research agenda in area of expertise, commitment to excellence in teaching, strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate well with colleagues, effective communicator, strong supporter of Adventist beliefs and mission

 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Teach full load of Adventist studies and church history courses at masters and doctoral level

2. Advise and provide mentorship to graduate students and serve on doctoral committees

3. Participate in seminary and university life and responsibilities

4. Carry regular faculty responsibilities relating to teaching, service and research

 

Supervisory responsibilities

Provide guidance to administrative assistant and graduate assistant in conducting required functions and responsibilities

Required Experience

Qualifications

1. Earned doctorate in Church History/Adventist Studies

2. Capacity to communicate effectively in popular and scholarly level in English

3. Record of academic engagement and publications

4. Strong interpersonal skills

5. Exploring and mastering technology as an instructional tool

6. A personal history of healthy human relations, high moral integrity, and Christian maturity

 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Technical competencies needed to successfully perform teaching, researching, advising and administrative responsibilities, ability to organize a wide variety of documents, reports, files in various formats

Ability to teach on various online platforms, ( Zoom. Microsoft Teams, Learning Hub),  and delivery formats, (face-to face, hybrid, virtual).

 

Interpersonal interactions

Must be comfortable interacting with students from diverse cultures.

 

Physical demands

As needed to fulfill teaching, service, research and advising responsibilities, requires long periods of sitting.

 

Work environment

Maintain relatively quiet noise level
