Description

Walker Memorial Academy is a growing kindergarten through twelfth-grade school with about 200 students. It is located in the small, quiet town of Avon Park in central Florida, about 80 miles south of Orlando. WMA has a rich history in the community and is known for their science and music programs. If you are mission-minded, fun to work with and want to be part of leading students to God's Kingdom, we would love to hear from you. WMA has an opening for a fifth-grade homeroom teacher who will teach language arts to grades four and five, team teaching with the fourth-grade teacher who will teach math to both grades. They are looking for a dedicated, caring, and dynamic teacher who is a team player, creative, and passionate about children. Required Experience

Applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. A minimum of a bachelor's degree with North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). A minimum of three years of successful classroom experience and a strength in language arts is preferred. Must have a service-oriented attitude; be an effective communicator possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills; and be able to positively engage with students and families of diverse backgrounds, regardless of language, ethnicity, race, or socioeconomic status. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, self-directed, and motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, and knowledge of proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial.
