Excel Adventist Academy (EAA) is seeking a candidate for the 2025-2026 school year for an Early Childhood Teacher position (Preschool, age 3 and Pre-K, age 4). Excel is a P-8 school located in Missouri City, Texas, approximately 20 miles from Houston, Texas. EAA  provides an academic setting to support students with a range of skills and abilities,  fostering an individualized approach for education. The curriculum and Instructional approaches accommodate the pace and learning needs of each student. In this environment, teachers have the flexibility to meet the remedial or accelerated needs of individual students. The average teacher-to-student ratio is 1:15. EAA has supportive constituent churches and a thriving community. Aside from core subjects, EAA offers, Art, Music, P.E., Robotics, and participates in a community school garden. EAA serves a diverse population and welcomes students of all faiths and ethnic background who desire an opportunity to learn more about Jesus. Job duties include:
•    Modeling and sharing Jesus’ love with students, parents, and staff
•    Planning and meeting needs of students
•    Developing and maintaining a safe, loving, structured, and optimal learning environment through classroom management and restorative practices
•    Planning and implementing rigorous and engaging hands-on lessons and units of study aligning with the North American Division Adventist Education standards and learning objectives
•    Communicating (written and verbal) clearly and effectively with parents, students, and co-workers
•    Meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students coming from diverse backgrounds

Position Summary

The PreK Teacher is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate and spiritually enriching learning environment for young children. This position supports the philosophy and mission of Adventist education by integrating faith into every aspect of the learning experience and fostering a classroom atmosphere that reflects Christian principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the North American Division (NAD) Early Childhood Education curriculum.
  • Provide instruction that promotes academic, spiritual, and social growth.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
  • Lead students in daily worship, prayer, and spiritual reflection.
  • Assess student progress using developmentally appropriate methods and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide programs.
  • Support the policies, mission, and objectives of the Southwest Region Conference Office of Education and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
  • Holds or is eligible for North American Division (NAD) teacher certification.
  • Active member in good and regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Prior teaching experience in early childhood education preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a loving, Christ-centered learning environment.
