PURPOSE & SPIRITUAL CALLING

Toledo Junior Academy seeks a dedicated, Christ-centered educator to lead our Grades 1–3 classroom as a spiritual minister and academic guide. This position is more than instruction; it is a sacred call to shape young hearts and minds in the image of Christ. You will create a nurturing, Christ-centered learning environment where students experience the love of Jesus while developing strong academic foundations, Christian character, and a lifelong love of learning.

ABOUT TOLEDO JUNIOR ACADEMY

Toledo Junior Academy is a fully accredited, State of Ohio chartered nonpublic academy supervised by the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Located on West Sylvania Avenue in Toledo, our school is committed to providing quality Christian education rooted in biblical principles. Our newly expanded campus features modern classrooms, a full recreational area, and a brand-new gymnasium; resources that enable our students to thrive academically, physically, and spiritually. THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our collaborative team as we expand our ministry and reach new heights in our newly renovated facility. You will work alongside educators who share your passion for developing the whole child; spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Design and implement an engaging, Bible-integrated curriculum for Grades 1–3 students
  • Model and instruct students in the pillars of Christian character: decorum, manners, grit, and collaboration
  • Establish and maintain strong multigrade classroom procedures that foster a safe, orderly, Christ-centered learning community
  • Demonstrate redemptive discipline practices that guide student behavior toward spiritual and personal growth
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and church leadership to support holistic student development
  • Utilize our expanded facility and resources to enhance learning experiences

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach core academic subjects (language arts, mathematics, science, social studies) aligned with NAD standards and Adventist educational principles
  • Develop and execute multigrade classroom management procedures that maintain Christian decorum and purposeful learning
  • Integrate Bible principles and the Christian worldview across all subject areas
  • Assess student progress and communicate regularly with families
  • Participate in school outreach and community service activities
  • Collaborate with the instructional team to support school initiatives
  • Model professional dress code 

 

Required Experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SPIRITUAL CREDENTIALS

Academic & Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (or higher)
  • Current North American Division (NAD) Teacher Certification, OR eligibility to obtain it within the contract year

Spiritual & Character Requirements:

  • Active, baptized member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing
  • Unwavering commitment to the Adventist Christian worldview and mission
  • Demonstrated Christian character reflecting the virtues of decorum, manners, grit, and collaborative spirit
  • Willingness to model spiritual leadership and be a living example of Christ's love to students and families
  • Commitment to redemptive discipline and the holistic spiritual development of young people

Professional Strengths:

  • Excellent classroom management skills with proven ability to lead multigrade environments
  • Strong communication and collaborative abilities
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for current educational best practices
  • Proficiency with classroom technology and learning management systems
  • Genuine passion for working with elementary-age children
  • Physical and emotional stamina for the demands of elementary teaching

Personal Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship or valid work authorization
  • Clean background check and clearance for working with children
  • Agreement to uphold the professional and spiritual standards outlined in the Ohio Conference Educator Handbook

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a multigrade or small-school setting
  • Training in character education or Adventist educational philosophy
  • Experience with literacy-rich instruction or STEM integration
  • Active involvement in church or school community service
