 The beautiful campus of Ozark Adventist Academy, established in 1924 as a secondary Adventist school, is located in Northwest Arkansas, “The Natural State.”  Within 45 minutes of campus are 2,500 miles of mountain biking trails, kayak, and whitewater rafting, and thousands of acres within state parks for camping, hiking, and backpacking.  The corridors of Bentonville, Rogers, and Fayetteville (home to the University of Arkansas) are within a 35-minute driving distance for shopping, dining, and numerous activities.  OAA is three and a half hours from Kansas City, Oklahoma City, and Little Rock and within six hours of Dallas/Fort Worth and St. Louis.  Southwestern Adventist University and Union Adventist University are approximately six hours from the OAA campus in opposite directions.

Required Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education (Master's degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification (denominational credentials and/or state certification)
  • Member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church supporting a lifestyle consistent with Adventist beliefs and values
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to integrate faith-based perspectives into teaching effectively

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have prior experience teaching high school math, as well as dual-credit, college level math courses
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes academic rigor, creativity, and respect 
  • Develop and deliver engaging math lessons that meet curriculum standards and integrate a biblical worldview
  • Take initiative to identify students who need enrichment or enhancement of curriculum in order to move students forward towards academic excellence
  • Encourage students to think critically and communicate effectively
  • Use MAP data to develop strategies that strengthen student needs in mathematics
  • Participate in school activities, including one evening of supervision per week, plus occasional weekend supervision, special events, and professional development events
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school administration to enhance curriculum and support school initiatives
  • Maintain open communication with students, parents, and school staff
  • Bring experience teaching multiple subjects in addition to math
