Position Responsibility
The Business Manager is a key member of the administrative and faculty team that work together for the successful operation of the school. This Business Manager will make decisions and provide input to the principal and board members with the best interest of the academy and its future. This position will have the primary responsibility for planning and controlling all financial-related activities of the school. The Business Manager will also share responsibility for operations management, human resources, strategic planning, communications and educational support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the academy’s annual budget, forecasting income and
expenditures, monitoring variances and making adjustments as needed.
- Prepare financial reports and statements for the principal and Board of Trustees.
- Manage tuition and fee collection and the financial assistant programs.
- Oversee student accounts and the process of formulating financial plans with student
parents.
- Manage the collection of monthly student accounts, insuring timely payments and
communicating proactively with those not making payments.
- Oversee the payment of expenses and accounts payable within the limits given by each
vendor.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve the
financial health of the academy.
- Manage the student labor program and ensure those students with a financial need have available opportunities. Submitting student hours each month to the Kansas/Nebraska of SDA Treasurer’s Office.
Human Resources
- Membership on the Personnel Committee of the Board of Trustees
- Monitor employee benefits and payroll processes in conjunction with the Treasury Department of the Kansas/Nebraska Conference of SDA..
Strategic Planning and Analysis
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives, providing financial insights and operational
support.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and make data-driven recommendations to
improve efficiency.
- Develop and implement cost-saving measures when necessary.
- Communication with Academy personnel, Board of Trustees, alumni and parents
- Communicate financial information, both written and verbally, to academy administration,
parents and Board of Trustees.
- Collaborate with the development personnel in written communications and in
fundraising initiatives.
- Responding promptly to inquiries regarding academy finances and operations.
Educational Support
- Support the educational program of the academy by active participation and attendance
in programs and activities.
- Active in the spiritual programs of the academy, providing chapel talks and classroom
