Highland Academy is looking for a Dean of Men for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond. We are located in Portland TN, about 45 minutes north of Nashville. 

This position requires a strong love and commitment to Christ and the willingness to be open to his guidance and growth. Working with Academy students in a dormitory setting takes patience, grace, and modeling Christ-like Character.

Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating schedules and responsibilities with the other Dean
  • Basic clerical skills (Microsoft) (FACTS)
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • A willingness to manage the unexpected
  • General good health/mobility
  • Open and visible relationship with Jesus
  • Open support of Seventh-Day Adventist beliefs/practices
  • Open support of Highland Academy policies and procedures 

Daily Duties could include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing all operations of the dormitory
  • Recording/sharing data with relevant team members
  • Basic medical interventions
  • Dormitory employee oversight and management
  • Communicating and responding to parents’ needs and questions
  • Creating/maintaining communications with dorm students and parents
  • Transporting students to appointments/school functions
  • Substitute teaching and/meal supervision
  • Weekly meetings with administration and staff
  • Worship planning and oversight
  • Continued dormitory upkeep, cleanliness and functions
Required Experience

Candidates with prior deaning experience and/or hold denominational certification are preferred. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The North American Division of Seventh-day Adventist denominational policies and wage scale determine salary and benefits. This is a full-time 10-month position.
