Support Southern California Conference in fulfilling its mission, “to exalt Christ by cultivating healthy churches and schools: and its core values of integrity with transparency, engagement, stewardship, unity in diversity, and relationships and team.
Liaison between the SCC Office of Education and all schools in the Southern California Conference. Provide expertise and financial knowledge to help each school become financially stable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Visit all schools.
2. Review fiscal year budgets for all Conference schools.
3. Make financial recommendations to each school.
4. Monitor monthly school financial reports
5. Work closely with our in-house auditing service for our elementary schools and GCAS for our academies.
6. Attend finance/board meetings.
7. Revise or propose school budgets as needed.
8. Oversee, monitor, and control the Office of Education’s annual budget.
9. Prepare financial reports for Office of Education and Board of Education.
10. Process applications for school safety and repair as funds are provided at the conference and union levels.
11. Process all student scholarship applications and the distribution of scholarship dollars.
12. Assist the SCC Treasury on additional projects.
13. Comply with policies and procedures of Southern California Conference, including but not limited to those in the employee handbook, Pacific Union Education Code and, North American Division Working Policy
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
To perform this job, the individual must:
• Perform each essential function satisfactorily, and
• Be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good standing, and
• Possess a proven track record of effective leadership, judgment, collaboration, a learner and possess character above reproach.
• Possess knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the Southern California Conference, Pacific Union Education Code and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Must possess a participative management style and advocate teams-manship; must be results oriented while maintaining a strong service-oriented philosophy, and
• Possess the ability to satisfactorily communicate (verbal and written) in English with management, co-workers, visitors and vendors. Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Possess the ability to foster communication among departmental staff, employees from other departments and outside personnel.
• Possess the ability to meet deadlines and perform all job duties with minimum supervision; ability to work under pressure and with many interruptions.
Education and Experience
Master's degree or equivalent in accounting related field is required; knowledge in more than one discipline. Requires seven to ten years’ experience, some in an Academy setting.
