Position Overview: As a Middle School Science Teacher at MAAS, you'll create a fun, interactive, and engaging environment where students can explore the wonders of the natural world. You’ll teach a variety of topics across biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science while using creative, hands-on lessons to bring these subjects to life. Your goal is to make science exciting, approachable, and full of "wow" moments that spark curiosity and inspire lifelong learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Science with a Twist: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons in a variety of science subjects, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.
  • Create Hands-On Learning: Design and lead experiments, projects, and demonstrations that bring science concepts to life and allow students to explore, investigate, and discover on their own.
  • Foster Curiosity: Encourage students to ask questions, explore their ideas, and think critically about the world around them.
  • Collaborate with Students: Build strong relationships with students, ensuring that each one feels supported and excited about learning.
  • Incorporate Technology: Use innovative tools and resources (like virtual labs, simulations, and multimedia) to enhance lessons and connect science to real-world applications.
  • Promote a Positive Learning Environment: Create a classroom atmosphere that is inclusive, fun, and conducive to learning, where students feel safe to express themselves and experiment with new ideas.
  • Assess and Support Student Progress: Track student progress through creative assessments, feedback, and individualized support to ensure every student succeeds.
  • Connect creation to our Creator: Find authentic ways to connect science experiences back to a real personal creator God in the form of Jesus Christ; highlighting His care for us through His laws of science and creative powers.

 

Required Experience

Ideal Candidate: A minimum of 5 years teaching science in an Adventist Middle School setting. Preferred standard or professional NAD teaching certificate with certification in science K-8 or 6-8 science. Minor in science will be considered for conditional employment. Candidates must be a member of the Adventist Church in good standing and eligible to work in the United States at the time of application.
