Description

Walker Memorial Academy is a growing kindergarten through twelfth-grade school with about 200 students. It is located in the small, quiet town of Avon Park in central Florida, about 80 miles south of Orlando. WMA has a rich history in the community and is known for its science and music programs.

WMA has an opening for a high school science teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Responsibilities would also include being involved in extra-curricular activities, such as clubs, etc. They are looking for a dedicated, caring, and dynamic teacher who is creative and passionate about children. Applicants for this position must model Christ-like behavior and attitudes that will positively impact students in leading them to Christ. They must be able to deliver instruction to students on the indicated subjects or grade levels using a variety of teaching methods and activities. The selected employee may also be responsible for other school duties as may be assigned. Required Experience

Applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and already have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. A minimum of a bachelor's degree with North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification in science is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). A minimum of three years of successful classroom experience is preferred. Must be a team player; have a service-oriented attitude; be an effective communicator possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills; and be able to positively engage with students and families of diverse backgrounds, regardless of language, ethnicity, race, or socioeconomic status. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, being self-directed, and being motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, and proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.
